Inspiring Words

Words that have been wandering through my mind lately

Picasso quote via pinterest

This week, going into a busy school and work schedule, I have been drawing on inspiration from Picasso. This quote reminds me that life is what we make of it. Rather than forcing our lives into a box, we should dare to branch out and give out and think outside the box. We will only find what we are looking for when we dare to create our own realities.

Also inspiring me this week, Beyonce's single "I Was Here"

Among the most striking of the lyrics from this song:

I just want them to know
That I gave my all, did my best
Brought someone to hapiness
Left this world a little better

This song reminds me of what I live for-to make an impact on the world around me. Whether I'm recognized for it or not, I die knowing I left this world better than I entered it.

Music I love & Something to Laugh about

This song has been running in my mind all weekend. I cannot believe that Birdy was only fourteen when she recorded "Skinny Love," there is so much soul, strength, and passion in her sound.

Birdy – Skinny Love

Also, I love the hilarity that has emerged from the Presidential Debate over Romney's plans to cut PBS funding among other domestic spending cuts. Although it is serious, the use of it by the Obama Campaign has put a funny spin on it. I for one have got both Big Bird's and President Obama's back.

Enjoy!!

Lately I've Been....

Inspiring words from Carrie which define how
I'm attempting to lead my life at the moment

In the past few weeks I have been focusing on trying to balance my school work and internship while still attempting to maintain a social life. Although this juggling act is relatively new for me, I am still doing my best to live in the moment. Many exciting things have been going on in the past few weeks and I have been relishing them all-from watching Michelle Obama speak here at UF to attending football games and watching movies with friends, I am so glad to be a Florida Gator and would not take it back for anything.

A few little smiles from recent weeks include:

Seeing Michelle Obama do the Gator chomp in person

Being able to order Midnight Cookies at three a.m,
whether studying or having a girls night

Hanging up these posters all over campus to encourage
our fellow students to Register to Vote before October 9th.

In recent weeks I have also been introduced to Spotify and have been listening to Natalie Grant's "In Christ Alone" nonstop.

And to cap off this ridiculously long blog post, I thought I should share this link to look at of Recolored Vintage Photos.

I'm Back!!

Game day view at the stadium

Hi all, I know it has been forever since I have created a post but my life has gone through many major changes in the past few months and I have needed some time to adjust. I am no longer a high school student, I am now a college student at the amazing University of Florida located in the heart of the Gator nation! In addition, I have been keeping myself super busy helping out with Gators for Obama and adjusting to the work load as a political science major.

I will do my best to consistently keep itshersunrise updated on my little smiles, links to look at, and life highlights. To kick things off again, here are a few little smiles since starting school:

Getting Fired up and ready to go for November 2012
Gator Spirit at my first UF football game

Finding this little surprise on a wall near Karma Cream

Also, I have missed sharing my Links to Look at with you guys so here a few pretty good ones from recent weeks:

Little Smiles

These are the things that keep me happy from week to week

This week was a great week for me, aside from working, I got to spend a few days out of Miami meeting many new people at my college orientation at UF and it has got me excited to become an official member of the gator nation. Here are the little things that kept me smiling:

Remnants of an awesome fourth in my beach bag

My official welcome to the gator nation

 A friendly four pawed greeting

A book that takes me back some years

Inspiring Words

Every week I like to post the words that make me reflect on life the most

shay mitchell

In the August issue of Seventeen Magazine Shay Mitchell (also known as Emily from ABC'S Pretty Little Liars) is quoted as saying "I don't over think any compliment that I get or any negative comment that I hear...Regardless of what anyone else says, good or bad, it only matters how I feel or what I think."This positive world outlook strikes me because it is important to me as a budding adult not to stress other's opinions too strongly. As a handbook type A personality, I tend to take everything others say about me to heart, and as I am branching out into a new world of college excitement and independence, one of my main personal growth priorities will have to be focusing on what I want for myself and not what others think of me.

Also on my mind this week, 1 Peter 3:9. In this day and age, many people, including myself, sometimes become so focused on revenge that we end up hurting ourselves more than we hurt the other party involved, thereby blocking our own personal growth. Overtime I have become better at letting things other people do to me go, but like taking their comments to heart, it is still something I have to work on.
